Police arrested Anas Muhammad for the killing. He was 17 at the time of the attack and was later charged as an adult with first-degree murder.
According to Kissimmee police, Muhammad — who goes by “Nas” — knew what time Pagan left for school. An arrest warrant shows he waited at the bottom of the stairs and stabbed her with a small, black pocketknife as she walked out of the breezeway.
A 911 caller told dispatch the girl had a “hole in her neck” and that “it looks like a stabbing or something.”
Police said Muhammad told investigators that if someone else had walked out of the breezeway, he would have done the same thing to them
The judge expects the trial to last a couple of days.
