SEVILLE, Fla. – A man is facing charges after an overnight standoff with Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies ended in his arrest.
Deputies were called to a home on Lake Juanita Road off U.S. 17 in Seville late Monday night for a well-being check due to concerns about the man’s mental health.

According to the sheriff’s office, the situation escalated when the suspect pointed a shotgun through a window at a responding deputy.
The suspect, Austin Mowery, 28, surrendered around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday and was not injured. He was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail and charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, according to the sheriff’s office.
No deputies were injured during the incident.
