OCALA, Fla. – An Ocala man is facing serious charges after threatening two workers who were trying to repossess his truck, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said.
On Friday, deputies responded to a report of a verbal disturbance at a home on 6524 NW 67th Terrace.
According to an arrest affidavit, Clifford Dean Duvall, 54, confronted the repossession workers who had hooked up his black truck and were preparing to tow it from his home. That’s when Duvall hopped inside his truck, grabbed a black metallic tomahawk, pulled off the sheath, and went straight for the workers.
Deputies said security camera footage showed Duvall approaching the victims, pointing the weapon at them, and hitting the metal cable that was pulling the truck, all while getting within a few feet of them.
Both workers told deputies they feared for their safety.
Duvall told them he grabbed the tomahawk, but said his intention was to “scare both victims” so they wouldn’t repossess his vehicle.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office released body camera footage showing Duvall being taken into custody.
“Please, let it down. Please, let it down. I never threatened I’d kill them or anything like that,” Duvall can be heard saying in the video.
Duvall was booked into the Marion County jail and faces two charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
His bond is set at $15,000 on each count.
