1 dead in Daytona Beach shooting, police say

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – One person is dead after a shooting in a Daytona Beach neighborhood, police said.

Officers responded to the scene on the 700 block of School Street just before noon on Friday, where they found the victim with a gunshot wound. Officers immediately began life-saving measures alongside medical personnel upon arrival. Despite the efforts, the victim died from their injuries, police said.

Detectives are actively investigating the incident. Police are asking community members to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
