Storms damage power lines and homes, say officials

OCALA, Fla. – Severe weather toppled trees and damaged homes in Ocala on Saturday, say fire safety crews.

Officials say multiple fire engines were called to Southeast Eighth Street after a tree cracked and fell onto a home, taking down power lines.

Crews say they found major damage throughout the home, including the kitchen, living room and a bedroom, but no one was hurt.

Crews later learned that a second home, minutes away on East Fort King Street, also had been damaged.

Crews say no one was hurt there, but the home’s fence and roof were damaged.

Ocala Fire Rescue urged people to remain indoors for their safety.
