Missing swimmer found dead after search at Wekiva Springs State Park

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Investigators recovered a body from the water amid a search for a missing swimmer at Wekiva Springs State Park on Monday evening, according to the Seminole County Fire Department.

A SCFD spokesperson told News 6 that the agency initially received a call about a man who was swimming at Wekiva Island but went underwater without resurfacing.

SCFD confirmed that it sent dive teams to search for the man, though he was ultimately discovered dead.

While investigators said an alligator wasn’t involved, details about how the man died have not yet been released.
