Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash, South Daytona police say

Motorcycle, operator were on fire momentarily, police say

SOUTH DAYTONA, Fla. – A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash with a car Saturday morning, the South Daytona Police Department said.

Officers responded at 11:02 a.m. to the crash involving a motorcycle and a sedan.

Police said the initial investigation revealed that the motorcyclist crashed into the rear of the sedan.

The motorcycle and operator, who was wearing a helmet, caught fire momentarily before bystanders extinguished the flames, police said.

The motorcyclist was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition, police said. The driver of the car had no injuries.
