Special Elections were held for Florida Senate District 19, representing much of Brevard County, and Florida House District 32, representing part of Central Brevard County, including parts of Melbourne and Viera.

The elections were triggered after State Sen. Randy Fine, who held Senate District 19, resigned to run for U.S. Congress.

Debbie Mayfield, a longtime state lawmaker who held the Florida House District 32 seat, then resigned to replace Fine.

Mayfield won a Republican primary for SD-19 back in April.

In HD-32, business owner Brian Hodgers won the Republican primary in April.

This is not the only special election happening this month.

A special primary election is being held on June 24 for Democrats in Orange County vying to run for Florida Senate District 15.
