PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday held a news conference in Panama City Beach to discuss the state’s back-to-school holiday.
DeSantis was joined at the event, which was held at Boon Docks restaurant, by Florida Department of Children and Families Secretary Taylor Hatch and Florida Department of Education Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas.

DeSantis signed a permanent back-to-school sales tax holiday that will benefit families statewide starting in August.
Unlike previous temporary tax holidays, the new law establishes an annual sales tax exemption for the entire month of August, giving parents and caregivers more flexibility and savings when purchasing essential school supplies.
