SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – Republican voters in Sumter County can go to the polls early in a special primary election for the only Florida Senate seat in the county.
Florida Senate District 11 encompasses Sumter County, as well as Citrus, Hernando and part of Pasco counties.
Republican Blaise Ingoglia represented the area, but he left when he was appointed chief financial officer for the state.
Early voting in Sumter County runs from Saturday, Sept. 19, through Saturday, Sept. 27. There are seven early voting locations throughout the county, which are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can see the locations on the Sumter County supervisor of elections website.

Primary day is Tuesday, Oct. 30. Any vote-by-mail ballots need to be turned into the county elections office by 7 p.m. on that day.
Only registered Republicans living in the district are eligible to vote in the primary.
Rancher and military veteran Anthony Brice is running against former State Rep. Dr. Ralph Massullo in the Republican primary.
The winner will advance to a general election on Nov. 10. The Democratic candidate is Vietnam veteran and engineer Ash Marwah. This election is open to all voters living in the district.
To find out if your registration is up to date, or whether you are eligible to vote, head to the election supervisor’s website.
It may not be the last special election for Sumter County.
State Rep. John Temple was appointed president of Lake-Sumter State College earlier this month, causing him to resign from Florida House District 52. A special election will have to be called for that seat as well.
