Sheriff Ivey described the operation as a prime example of local, state, and federal agencies working together.
“This is all of us working together for the same mission of keeping our citizens safe,” Ivey said.
During the news conference, the sheriff also confirmed that an ICE raid at a construction site at Fiske Boulevard near I-95 on Thursday was connected to the operation.
The operation involved the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Border Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), among others.
Lt. Gov. Jay Collins emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing illegal immigration and public safety.
“What you saw today was incredible. It’s federal, state, and local assets working together. That’s what the American people expect,” Collins said.
“Operation One Way Ticket” resulted in the identification and planned deportation of 354 illegal immigrants over four days.
“This operation sends a clear and uncompromising message. Florida will not tolerate lawlessness within our borders,” Collins stated.
The lieutenant governor also mentioned Florida’s innovative facilities, such as “Alligator Alcatraz” and “Deportation Depot,” which serve as hubs for processing and deporting illegal immigrants.
Officials said they expect to exceed 400 arrests during the operation.
