Martin Benitez Torres, 33, was a hardworking student studying to be a pharmacy tech, family and friends said.

He was one of the 49 people killed at the Pulse nightclub terror attack on June 12, 2016.

Torres, who was from Puerto Rico, was a student at the Ana G. Mendez University System in San Juan. The 33-year-old was studying to become a pharmacy tech at the University's Tampa satellite campus.

He was in Orlando visiting family members when he was killed.

Torres posted videos on his Facebook page hours before the shooting, showing him spending time with his family members.

Friends of Torres referred to him as "Flaco" or "skinny," and described him as a diligent and extremely hardworking student who was thankful for the opportunity to advance his career.

His favorite holiday was Halloween, according to friends, because of his desire and passion to create costumes. In fact, Torres created wardrobes for local beauty pageant contestants, including Miss Universe Puerto Rico.

Torres' family members said he was full of life, always smiling, and an amazing person, loving cousin, brother and son. He was buried in Puerto Rico, where much of his family resides still lives.
