Video released in case of woman found dismembered in Orange County

Body found in Orlando woods identified as Ethel McCarson

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orange County deputies released video on Tuesday in the case of a woman whose body was found dismembered in Orange County.

Deputies said body parts of Ethel Shannon McCarson were found April 6 in a wooded area near Old Winter Garden Road and North Cottage Hill Road in Orlando.

Video was released showing McCarson at the Greyhound Bus Depost on North John Young Parkway.

In the video, McCarson has her hair pulled back into a bun, is wearing what appears to be a light-colored sleeveless shirt, a scarf around her neck and a bag slung across her chest.

In the second part of the video, deputies say McCarson walked outside the Bus Depot, engaged in conversation with a woman, then eventually walk away.

Deputies said they are interested in talking to the woman, but she is not a person of interest and that detectives are interested in their conversation.

Willie Tillman, who lives close to the area where McCarson's body was found, said whoever killed her needs to be found.

"It's a monster, a beast. It's more than a killer," Tillman said.

Neighbors in the area said they are hopeful that the reward increase will generate tips, but they're unsure how effective it will be.

"You can't replace that lady with no amount of money," Tillman said.  "She's dead and gone."

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said the reward in the case has been increased by $5,000 to $10,000.

Detectives said passersby noticed McCarson's body at the edge of the woods and called 911.

"If anyone saw anything that looks suspicious, meaning any suspicious vehicles that may have stopped in the area of Old Winter Garden behind Duncan and Cottage Hill, (we want them to) come forward and call Crimeline," Lourdes Clayton, of the Orange County Sheriff's Office, said.

Anyone with information can call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
