ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Central Florida has confirmed an instructor in the School of Visual Arts and Design resigned Wednesday after being arrested during an investigation into the sexual exploitation of children using the Internet.
Stephen Schlow, 75, who started at the university in 2000, was arrested as a result of Operation Cyber Summer, which was put on by eight Central Florida law enforcement agencies.

During the investigation, officials chatted, emailed and spoke on the phone with people who they believed were interacting with a minor sexually.
Schlow was one of 12, ages 17-75, who were arrested during the investigation. He was not teaching summer classes.
The Seminole County Sheriff's Office recommends safety tips for parents:
- Communicate with your child. Talk with them about the potential dangers online and the reasons why they should be careful.
- Spend time with your child online and learn their favorite online destinations.
- Keep the computer in an area of the house where online activity can be monitored, not in your child's bedroom.
- Use parental controls and/or blocking software.
- Instruct children not to give out personal information such as their home address, school name or telephone number, and never to arrange a meeting with someone they met online without your permission.
