My friends at the Florida Division of Emergency Management have a bunch of job openings.

In a tweet this week, the Division confirmed it currently has several positions open in the Bureau of Mitigation for individuals who are “ready to join us in building prepared & more resilient communities.” For more information on open positions & how to apply, visit FloridaDisaster.org/jobs.

New law will ban gas pump manipulator devices

State Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson tells me it appears the Gas Pump Manipulation legislation will get full support this session.

News 6 worked closely with FDACS and Orlando Secret Service investigators to expose the problem and get Legislative support on both sides of the aisle. If approved, the law will go into effect July 1, 2023.

Gas thieves use the device to alter diesel fuel prices at the pump.

More jobs!

The FBI has joined a push to recruit more female law enforcement officers.

FBI Director Christopher Wray says, “The FBI is committed to ensuring our work environment supports the recruitment, development and advancement of our female sworn officers.”

The FBI is one of 260 law enforcement agencies launching the initiative to hire more women.

  • The FBI is committed to increase representation of women in recruiting classes to at least 30% by 2030.
  • Promote agency culture and standards that set up female officers for success; and
  • Share progress, successes and challenges with others in the 30x30 network.

Make Ends Meet does it again!

Debbie Potchik is another happy Make Ends Meet viewer.

The Melbourne woman paid $850 to the state for what she was told was an unemployment overpayment.

The DEO was wrong and reversed the bill in writing, but they told Debbie it would take up to six months to get the cash reimbursed.

We got involved and Debbie got her money back in a week. We will have her story on News 6 next Tuesday.

Remember, if you have an unemployment or financial issue, email makeendsmeet@wkmg.com or text the words Make Ends Meet, along with your issue, to 407-676-7428.
