The first hurricane of the 2025 hurricane season is on the board. Erin officially intensified into a 75 mph hurricane Friday morning.
The storm is set to explode into a 145 mph category 4 over the weekend or early next week.

The good news....the HUGE turn continues to be VERY likely. Still want to be mindful around the Carolinas, but even then the strengthening Bermuda high should fling this thing up and out leaving all land alone.
I wanted to share something else. This is a little more somber. The last time Erin was a hurricane was in 2001.
The hurricane was captured in one of the most heartbreaking satellite images in history.
The storm, about on the same parallel as New York City, was in the same image as smoke from the World Trade Center. Meteorologically, the storm had its hand on why the sky was so blue that morning.
You can read more about that here.
There’s nothing else brewing right now, but I suspect the National Hurricane Center will be highlighting a wave near Africa in very near future. We’ll likely be on the tropics watch yet again next week.
Have a great weekend!
