ORLANDO, Fla. – By a show of hands, who’s been loving the change of “Florida seasons” this week?

🤯 This hurricane season stat may blow your mind

It’s no secret it’s been an odd hurricane season, but this stat is arguably the weirdest. What’s going on, guys? Meteorologist Jonathan Kegges back with you.

Even in a relatively quiet season (knock on wood) there are still some crazy stats. There are two states that have spent more time in the NHC forecast cone than Florida. The states may surprise you.

Something tropical may be lurking in the Caribbean closer to Halloween 🌀🔍

We’re back for another iteration of your Insiders newsletter! Meteorologist David Nazario here to take you on another tropical deep-dive, especially since we’re getting to the very back-end of the 2025 hurricane season.

The pace for this season has been out-to-sea heavy. Even Hurricane Imelda, despite early model solutions predicting a scrape against our coast or a landfall into the Carolinas managed to find a stroke of luck and swoop east away from the U.S.

Things could possibly change, though, as we get into the final countdown toward Halloween night. A suspicious tropical wave is in the deep tropics of the Atlantic right now. Without a doubt, it will get into the Caribbean in the next three to five days. From there, guidance suggests it’ll have the chance to spin up. That’s when it could get a little spooky for everyone.

Anytime you put a storm inside a land-locked area, like the Caribbean or the Gulf, someone has to inevitably receive some kind of impact. You can find the details on everything we know so far by clicking HERE. For now, all we can do is watch, and I encourage you keep up with our recurring updates as we go further into time.

Clear skies, still flooded? The St. Johns River mystery 🚨

Hey everyone, Meteorologist Michelle Morgan here!

We’re enjoying some beautiful weather right now, but flooding remains a concern along Florida’s longest river — the St. Johns.

Even though the skies have cleared, parts of the river are still dealing with high water. Why? It’s a combination of last week’s strong winds, unusually high tides and heavy rain from weeks ago that’s still impacting the area.

And here’s something interesting — the St. Johns River doesn’t behave like most rivers. Its unique flow pattern plays a big role in why some spots continue to flood well after the storms have passed. Click here to learn more.
