🕰 Can I get a clock tick?

"Wicked" in New York (WKMG)

I have so much to tell you about before we get into the holidays!

Hey, I’m News 6 producer Brooke Savage, the writer behind this Setting The Stage newsletter.

Let’s take a look at what’s going on. ⤵

✨ Before she became The Good Witch...

Scarlett Spears portraying Young Glinda in "Wicked: For Good." (Universal Pictures)

While “Wicked” focused on Elphaba’s story and childhood, “Wicked: For Good” shed some light on how Glinda grew up and a Central Florida face played that part!

I had the chance to chat with 8-year-old Scarlett Spears. She told me all about how she landed the role of Young Glinda in such a major film!

👋 Hello! This book will change your life!

Some missionaries are coming to Central Florida to spread the Good Word.

“The Book of Mormon” is from the creators of TV’s South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, along with playwright Robert Lopez, who’s also known for his work with the show, “Avenue Q.”

The musical comedy is coming to Maxwell C. King Center for the Performing Arts in Melbourne Dec. 15-16. I saw it last year and absolutely LOVED it. I highly recommend seeing it, although fair warning, it does contain explicit language

Earlier this week, I had the chance to chat with Charity Arianna, who plays Nabulungi in the show. She’s actually from Jacksonville! See what she had to say about the musical and get ticket info.

A Tony Award-winning Broadway musical based on S.E. Hinton’s 1967 book and the 1983 film adaptation is coming to Orlando.

Set in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1967, “The Outsiders” follows 14-year-old Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend, Johnny Cade, and their Greaser family of ‘outsiders.’ They are a working-class gang pitted against their upper-class rivals, the Socs.

The show will be inside the Walt Disney Theater at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, Dec. 16-23.

🩰 A reimagining of a holiday classic

A ballet holiday classic is bringing grand jetés, pirouettes and acrobatics to an Orlando stage.

Orlando Ballet’s “The Nutcracker,” presented by Orlando Health, is back at the Dr. Phillips Center.

As the story goes, Clara receives a nutcracker doll on Christmas Eve and dreams about it coming to life.

The dream takes her on a magical journey through the Land of Sweets with the Nutcracker Prince, where they battle the Mouse King along the way.

The show is running inside Steinmetz Hall through Dec. 24. I posted ticket information.
