Is Florida getting colder??? 🥶

Hi there — Meteorologist Michelle Morgan here. I’ve lived in Central Florida for more than 25 years, and honestly, I don’t remember cold snaps this cold or this long. Either I was too young… or just didn’t really pay attention to it.

Just this past weekend, we felt the coldest air in 16 years — and it was downright frigid. Temperatures plunged into the 20s, and for many, it felt like Florida had suddenly felt like the Arctic… minus the snow.

So naturally, the question pops up: Is Florida getting colder? It may feel that way during a sharp freeze, but the real story is more surprising. While winters are warming overall, extreme cold events can still happen — and when they do, they stand out even more.
