ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando City’s run at the Leagues Cup ended in penalty kicks against Cruz Azul Friday evening in Orlando.
Orlando City’s first opponent in the Leagues Cup 2024 Knockout Rounds is one they have never faced in official competition prior to Friday’s meeting.

The teams were evenly matched and regular play ended at nil-nil, going to a shootout. In the ended, Cruz Azul got one up on the Lions, winning the game 4-3.
The Leagues Cup features 18 teams from LIGA MX and 29 from MLS in a World Cup-style tournament runs from July 26 to August 25.
The Lions return to regular season play on the road Aug. 24 against Kansas City.
