Orlando City has had success in the U.S. Open Cup, most notably winning it all in 2022. Last year, the team lost in the Round of 16.

“It’s a big tournament,” said Lions defender Zakaria Taifi. “We already won, and we want to win again. That’s the main goal.”

Following Wednesday, Orlando City faces three MLS matches on Saturday, April 18, vs Houston, Wednesday, April 22 vs Charlotte and Saturday, April 25 at D.C. United.

Orlando City has struggled in the 2026 campaign, currently in 13th place in the Eastern Conference with a 1-5-1 record. The team earned a 1-1 draw against Columbus last Sunday to break a three-game losing streak.

“I’m happy that the team showed mentality today,” said Lions forward Marco Pašalić following Sunday’s game, “that we showed that we can handle things after these big losses. And, I mean, on one side, I say this team didn’t deserve these losses in the past, so I’m not going to speak about it anymore. I look to the future, and we can connect the future games to this game today.”

The MLS season runs through November.
