ORLANDO, Fla. – UCF is 1-0 in Big 12 Conference play.
Now, can the Knights maintain that momentum?
Saturday’s 21-13 win over TCU is a boost to UCF whom has struggled in the Big 12. And the schedule doesn’t get any easier; arguably, it gets tougher.
Here’s a look at the month of October for UCF:
Oct. 3 - at (20) Houston
Oct. 10 - at (19) Oklahoma State
Oct. 17 - BYE
Oct. 24 - vs. (10) BYU
Friday, Oct. 31 - vs. Baylor
“It’s a challenging stretch,” head coach Scott Frost said Monday. “Those are three really good football teams. I think we’ve been improving, and we’ll see if we’re up for those challenges.”
Playing against three ranked opponent is something the Knights are looking forward to.
“It’s definetly a cool experience,” wide receiver Josh Derry said. “I want to do whatever I can to help this team win on offense or special teams.”
The Knights also haven’t won a road game in the last 10 away games. The streak started before Frost’s return to UCF.
“This team has nothing to do with the team last year or the team two years ago,” Frost said. “I thought we played really physical and battled on the road against a good (Pitt) team a couple of weeks ago. We’re going to get another opportunity to do something cool and special.”
Quarterback Alonza Barnett III is still out with a hamstring injury. Keyone Jenkins is slated to get the start again. He went 19 of 20 for 160 yards and one touchdown.
Kickoff for Saturday’s game at Houston is 12 p.m. ET/11 a.m. CT.
