Cruise ship makes its transatlantic voyage to America

ORLANDO, Fla. – The newest Disney Cruise ship has completed her nearly 3,800-mile voyage across the Atlantic Ocean, arriving in New York Tuesday morning from the Meyer Werft construction yard in Germany.

The 4,000-passenger ship will be christened Thursday after making a grand entrance through New York Harbor, passing in front of the Statue of Liberty.  Thursday's ceremony is set to mark the first christening in Disney cruise line history outside of Florida. It's aimed at partly raising awareness Disney Magic will be relocating to New York part time from Galveston, Texas.

The Fantasy is the fourth cruise liner in the expanding Disney cruise line fleet and is the sister ship of Disney Dream.  Disney has said new experiences include two Broadway-style shows, a new water area and a late-night section for adults.

After Thursday's christening, the Fantasy is set to dock at Port Canaveral in Brevard County on March 6, ahead of her maiden voyage on March 31.
