SeaWorld rescues great blue heron with aluminum can stuck on bill

Residents witness struggling animal and call SeaWorld

ORLANDO, Fla. – SeaWorld Orlando's Animal rescue team responded to a distressed Great Blue Heron with an aluminum soda can stuck on its bill.

The heron was located in an Ocoee neighborhood and residents who witnessed the struggling animal called SeaWorld.

The aluminum can was pierced in the Heron's bill causing it to be lodged around its head, causing minor lacerations to its face and eye. The Seaworld team cut the can off the heron's bill and brought the animal back to SeaWorld Orlando for medical care.

The heron was treated and returned within hours to the Ocoee neighborhood.

SeaWorld says that Earth Day serves as a great reminder of the importance of recycling and what it means to animal safety.
