“As the world leader in alligator safety and education since 1949, we are extremely proud to now be leading the way in global alligator and crocodile conservation through Gatorland Global,” said Mark McHugh, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gatorland.

Partnering with the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and dedicated trappers, Gatorland Global rescues wild Florida alligators that would otherwise be euthanized. Many of these alligators, often 40 to 50 years old, find a second chance at life in Gatorland’s lakes.

The organization has successfully rescued over 100 alligators from euthanasia, including a notable case involving Jawlene, an alligator found severely malnourished and missing her top jaw. Under Gatorland’s care, Jawlene has thrived, gaining weight and growing in size while sharing a habitat with Nelly Wafer, a rare albino turtle.

Gatorland has raised two Orinoco hatchlings for release into their natural habitat in Venezuela. This year, Gatorland’s crocodile experts will travel to Venezuela to release the Orinoco crocs, further demonstrating Gatorland Global’s commitment to ensuring a future for this critically endangered species.
