The Beak and Barrel will have an original story and characters, with a lively ambience you’d expect to find in a pirate tavern, plus familiar ties to one of Disney World’s all-time favorite attractions.

Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn is the one who runs The Beak and Barrel along with Rummy, her first mate.

Serving as the tavern’s quartermaster, the talkative, peg-legged parrot roosts high atop the bar and shares tales of piracy and leads the bar in a rousing toast or two.

Rummy also holds a striking resemblance to the original Barker Bird that previously sat at the entrance to Pirates of the Caribbean.

What was once the mess hall is now known appropriately as “The Mess.”

Long tables span the central space beneath a hanging anchor covered in candles and dripping wax.

A large bar anchors one side of the room, complete with a selection of grogs and brews, including the Enchanted Rum Bottle, which was gifted to Merry by the enchantress Tia Dalma and seemingly serves as the source of the tavern’s specialty brews.

Rummy will also hobble along the bar’s ledge , greeting the patrons and keeping a close eye on the crew while Merry is away.

Within the Captains’ Quarters, fine artwork and drapery have endured the markings of pirates over the years, and in some places, faded spots on the wall are all that remains of now plundered portraits.

Five miniature ships that adorn the fireplace are rumored to represent pirates from every corner of the world banding together to defeat tyranny. According to Disney, the mysterious bottles will have an interactive element.

As for an opening date and menu, including what alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be served, Disney said more news is on the horizon.
