Disney Destiny joins cruise line fleet with spectacular heroes and villains christening ceremony

Inaugural sailing Nov. 20 from Port Everglades

PORT EVERGLADES, Fla. – It was a mightiest of welcomes to the Disney Cruise Line fleet.

During the official christening ceremony for the Disney Destiny on Monday, dazzling scenes from favorite Disney stories were brought to life with drones, projections, and music.

Pop-rock versions of classics from “Hercules,” “The Lion King,” “Frozen,” “Black Panther,” Pirates of the Caribbean, and more provided the perfect soundtrack for the show.

The ship recently completed its 5,000-nautical-mile voyage from Europe. Before arriving at its homeport at Port Everglades, it made a special stop in Port Canaveral. The Destiny is the third ship in Disney Cruise Line’s Triton class, alongside the Wish and Treasure, which sail from Port Canaveral.

The Disney Destiny, a new addition to the expanding Disney Cruise Line fleet, will embark on its maiden voyage from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Nov. 20, 2025, followed by an inaugural season of four- and five-night cruises to The Bahamas and Western Caribbean. The ship draws on the legacies of Disney’s larger-than-life heroes and villains to forge one-of-a-kind vacation experiences for families.
