Select Disney World resorts to start welcoming dogs

Pups get warm reception with 'Pluto's Welcome Kit'

ORLANDO, Fla. – Barking news alert: Pluto won't be the only dog at the Walt Disney World Resort anymore.

Four Disney resort hotels will begin welcoming dogs this Sunday, according to a news release.

The Art of Animation, Port Orleans Riverside, Yacht Club, and Fort Wilderness resorts will be the first dog-friendly locations as part of this new trial program. Each property charges a $50-$75 per night pet-cleaning fee for a maximum of two dogs per room.

When the pups arrive, their humans will be given a "Pluto's Welcome Kit" when they check in which includes a mat, bowls, pet ID tag, poop bags, puppy pads and a dog walking map. Guests will also get a special Pluto "Do Not Disturb" door hanger to let hotel staff know that a dog is in the room, according to the news release.

The pet-friendly guest rooms will also have easy access to pet walkways and green spaces.

While guests explore the theme parks, they can drop their pets off at Best Friends Pet Care, a Disney-partnered on-property pet day care for additional costs.

And what's a trip to Disney World without the souvenirs? Walt Disney officials said pet-friendly merchandise is coming soon to participating resorts.
