Ewing's 5 straight birdies leads to LPGA win in Cincinnati
CINCINNATI — (AP) — Ally Ewing ran off five straight on the back nine Sunday and closed with a 7-under 65 to hold off Xiyu Lin and win the Kroger Queen City Championship in the LPGA Tour's return to Cincinnati. Lin started the final round two shots behind and made up ground quickly with a pair of birdies. Ewing had to make a 7-footer to match birdies with Lin on the par-5 12th and stay tied, and then the American kept going. Lin made an 18-foot birdie on the 456-yard closing hole into a breeze — only the 20th birdie all week on No. After Lin made her birdie, Ewing calmly rapped in the par to finish at 22-under 266.

CINCINNATI — (AP) — Ally Ewing shot into the lead with a fast start and stayed there on a soggy course Saturday for a 5-under 67 to build a one-shot lead over Maria Fassi in the Kroger Queen City Championship. She has six birdies and was bogey-free until the final hole, playing even longer than its 446 yards because of the soggy conditions that allowed for preferred lies. Khang and Kemp are trying to win on the LPGA Tour for the first time. Khang finished one shot behind Gary Lopez a week ago at the Dana Open as the final group struggled. More soggy conditions are expected for the final round in Cincinnati, which has not had the LPGA Tour in town since 1989.

Lee6 has gone three years since her lone win on the LPGA Tour at the 2019 U.S. Women's Open, and the 26-year-old South Korean hasn't contended since Singapore at the HSBC Women's World Championship. “It was a good bogey-free round, and it's been a while I played bogey-free, so I'm really satisfied with my game today,” Lee6 said. A teenager still in high school will be around for the weekend at the first LPGA Tour event in Cincinnati since 1989. The weekend will not include U.S. Women's Open champion Minjee Lee, who leads the Race to CME Globe, or American star Lexi Thompson. Fassi, Kemp and Khang have yet to win on the LPGA Tour, though this year already has produced eight first-time winners.
