Hollywood halts releases in Russia, including 'The Batman'
Warner Bros., the Walt Disney Co. and Sony Pictures said Monday that they would "pause" the release of their films in Russia. "The Batman," one of the year's more anticipated films, launches Friday in North America and many overseas territories, including Russia. “In light of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, WarnerMedia is pausing the release of its feature film ‘The Batman’ in Russia," a spokesperson for the studio said in a statement. Russia is not a leading market for Hollywood, but the country typically ranks in the top dozen countries globally in box office. After Disney and Warner Bros. made their announcements, Sony followed suit.wftv.com
Tom Hardy, Andy Serkis sink their teeth into 'Venom' sequel
Film Review - Venom: Let There Be Carnage This image released by Sony Pictures Entertainment shows a scene from "Venom: Let There Be Carnage." In its most talked-about scene, journalist Eddie Brock (Hardy), is overcome by the alien symbiote living inside him: Venom, a slimy, sinister-looking alien hulk also voiced by Hardy. Venom is a relatively marginal Marvel character; the movies, Serkis says, are "swimming in the darker end of the Marvel pool." The sequel is also about Brock and Venom undergoing what Serkis calls “the seven-year-inch” in their relationship, as both yearn for independence. On set, Hardy typically retreats to a corner to record his Venom lines, which are enhanced with a pitch-modulator.wftv.com
