Defending WNBA champion Chicago and Connecticut meet Sunday in the WNBA playoffs for the third straight year and a second straight time in the semifinals.

Sabrina Ionescu had 13 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, Sami Whitcomb added 15 points and the New York Liberty stayed in the playoff race with a 91-73 victory over the Dallas Wings.

Arike Ogunbowale underwent a successful Iliac Crest Core Muscle Avulsion Repair today in Philadelphia, PA.Ogunbowale will miss the rest of the regular season and the team’s upcoming first-round playoff matchup. Ogunbowale, a two-time All-Star, averaged team highs in points (19.7) and assists (3.6) per game while shooting 40 percent from the field.

Diamond DeShields scored 14 points and Shey Peddy and Diana Taurasi each hit three 3-pointers and scored nine points. McCowan scored inside on the other end and Taurasi hit a 3-pointer to put the Mercury back in front. McCowan then tied it at 83-all with a layup and hit 1-of-2 free throws before Ogunbowale made a 3 with 2:05 left that made it 87-83.

The WNBA team led 75-73 midway through the fourth quarter before Ogunbowale had a four-point play to extend the advantage to six. No team they will face has nearly as much talent as the WNBA All-Star team they faced. She is on Australia’s Olympic team and the Opals played Nigeria in an exhibition contest on Tuesday. The current U.S. Olympic team presented their predecessors with flowers, while the 1996 team gave personal notes of encouragement to the current squad.
