Terrill)LOS ANGELES — (AP) — Cody Bellinger hit two homers, Tyler Anderson allowed two hits over seven sparkling innings and the Los Angeles Dodgers completed a statement-making sweep of the revamped San Diego Padres with a 4-0 victory Sunday. Freddie Freeman had two RBI singles in the major league-leading Dodgers' eighth consecutive victory and their 30th in 35 games. The Dodgers’ sweep was also a strong reply to San Diego’s bold moves at the trade deadline to acquire Juan Soto, Josh Bell and Brandon Drury. Yu Darvish (10-5) yielded seven hits over six solid innings, striking out five and shutting down the Dodgers except in their two-run third highlighted by Bellinger's first homer. Max Muncy and Mookie Betts had two hits apiece for the Dodgers, who rapped out 33 hits in the series.

It's the first time since RBIs became an official stat in 1920 that a player had an RBI against his brother in a 1-0 victory, according to STATS. San Diego rookie left-hander MacKenzie Gore and three relievers combined on a five-hitter. Other than getting one-upped by his brother, Aaron Nola (4-5) pitched well.

Padres get back Mike Clevinger, Dodgers add pitcher for NLDS

While Clevinger was among the 15 pitchers on the Padres roster released Tuesday, fellow starter Dinelson Lamet was again left off because of injury. The Dodgers added a pitcher to their roster for the NLDS, where they will have 14 pitchers and 14 position players after carrying only 13 pitchers for the first round series against Milwaukee. Right-handed reliever Dylan Floro (3-0, 2.59 ERA) was the pitcher added for the longer NLDS. The Padres last week became the first team to use eight or more pitchers in three consecutive playoff games.
Tatis, Myers homer twice, Padres stay alive with 11-9 win

Wil Myers also homered twice and Manny Machado connected, but Tatis — with his signature exuberance and flair — was the one who carried the party at empty Petco Park. It was the 23rd comeback win of 2020 for the close-knit Padres, who have pushed each other all year. “I feel like we needed that big swing for the entire team to get us going," Tatis said of his first homer. It was the Padres’ first postseason win at Petco Park, which opened in 2004.
Lamet outduels Kershaw, Padres top LA 7-2 to tighten NL West
The Padres cut the Dodgers’ lead in the NL West to 1½ games. Lamet matched his season strikeout high with 11 while holding the Dodgers to one run and three hits while walking only two. Myers hit a leadoff single and Jurickson Profar had a one-out base hit to chase Kershaw in the seventh. Oña greeted Pedro Baez by lofting a double down the left-field line to give San Diego a 2-1 lead, and the Padres kept adding on. The Padres had a prime chance against Kershaw an inning earlier when rookie Jake Cronenworth hit a leadoff double.
Mariners send C Nola to San Diego as part of 7-player trade
SEATTLE Seattle and San Diego completed a seven-player trade Sunday night, with catcher Austin Nola joining the contending Padres and prized outfield prospect Taylor Trammel going to the Mariners as centerpieces of the deal. Seattle sent Nola and right-handed relievers Austin Adams and Dan Altavilla to the Padres, while Trammell led a list of youngsters headed back to the Mariners. This season, Nola has started 23 games behind the plate and two at first base. Altavilla has been part of Seattles bullpen since 2016 but has appeared in more than 22 games only once. Muoz appeared in 22 games last season for the Padres and was regularly clocked above 100 mph with his fastball.
Seager brothers go deep, Dodgers rally past Mariners 11-9
It was the 10th time in major league history that opposing brothers both went deep in a game. The teams combined for seven long balls, marking the second straight game there have been seven or more at Chavez Ravine. He had a three-run drive to right field during the second inning that gave Los Angeles a short-lived 6-2 advantage. Los Angeles' Ross Stripling struggled for the second straight outing, allowing three homers and seven runs (six earned) in three innings. Los Angeles RHP Tony Gonsolin (0-0) has not allowed a run over 8 2/3 innings in two previous starts this season.
