Batiste, this year's top Grammy nominee with 11 nods, and Carlile, who is up for five, are serving as musical directors for the Mitchell tribute. Past MusiCares honorees include Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin, Dolly Parton and Aerosmith. The gala concert and dinner raises funds for the programs of MusiCares, the Recording Academy charity that provides health and welfare services to musicians in need.

NEW YORK — (AP) —Dolly Parton, Eminem, Lionel Richie, Duran Duran and A Tribe Called Quest are among this year's first-time nominees for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The Cleveland-based institution announced 17 artists and groups being considered for Rock Hall induction, including Rage Against the Machine, Pat Benatar, Dionne Warwick, Carly Simon, Judas Priest and Beck. This year's class will be announced in May, with an induction ceremony planned for later this year. “This year’s ballot recognizes a diverse group of incredible artists, each who has had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture,” said John Sykes, head of the foundation that runs the Rock Hall. The other nominees are Kate Bush, DEVO, Eurythmics, Fela Kuti, MC5 and the New York Dolls.

Planned Parenthood plans to raise awareness about restrictive anti-abortion measures that have passed in several states over the last year. The organization hopes to gather a whopping 500,000 signatures for its online petition to raise awareness about abortion rights. "Abortion access and reproductive health and rights are under attack like never before, and we need everyone to fight back," Planned Parenthood's president, Alexis McGill, said in a statement. "Planned Parenthood is grateful to these artists for using their incredible platforms to declare that our bodies are our own -- if they are not, we can never be truly free or equal."

Beck's beer drinkers awarded settlement in lawsuit

The world's largest brewer Anheuser Busch InBev has reached a preliminary settlement with a group of beer drinkers. Their class-action lawsuit accuses the company of deceiving customers who bought Beck's. The problem: the beer they thought was imported from Germany was actually made in Missouri.
