By trading Bradley Chubb, the Russell Wilson Broncos admitted they aren't close to a title: Meet me at the logo
The Denver Broncos made an admission when they traded Bradley Chubb to the Miami Dolphins this week in an exchange for a first-round pick, among other compensation. NFL teams aren't forced to be honest with the media and their fan bases until it's time to make a transaction. The message that the Broncos sent with the Chubb trade is simple: They aren't nearly as close as they thought they were to winning a championship and it's time to start considering the future again. Their trade for Russell Wilson, paired with a defense that appeared to be one of the deepest in the league, seemed to immediately put them in title contention. That realization in itself is an admission that they might have jumped the gun with the Wilson trade and the assets used on it.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — (AP) — Two people with knowledge of the deal tell The Associated Press that the Denver Broncos are trading star-crossed pass rusher Bradley Chubb to Miami for a package that includes the Dolphins' first-round draft pick next year. The first-round pick is the one that the Dolphins acquired from San Francisco that allowed the 49ers to move up and draft quarterback Trey Lance in 2021. The Dolphins forfeited their own 2023 first-round selection and a third-round selection in the 2024 draft after an NFL investigation found that Miami violated the league’s anti-tampering policy regarding communication with Tom Brady. Chubb was the fifth overall pick in the 2018 draft, a key part of Denver's stellar defense and a locker room leader. Paton on Thursday said the team wanted to keep its core players and that Chubb was one of them.
wftv.comAs NFL trade deadline looms, focus is on Broncos, Bears, Raiders and a few other potential sellers
When the Carolina Panthers fired Matt Rhule on Oct. 10, the impact it would have on the NFL's trade market was predictable. Just days from that prediction coming to fruition, the league is heading into a defining week before the Nov. 1 trade deadline. If the Broncos can pull another lucrative trade deadline rabbit out of a hat like they did with Miller one season ago, Chubb is a goner. The thing with Tunsil, most teams believe that his likeliest trade window is the coming offseason, largely because he’s going to be reaching for a market-setting left tackle contract. Ferrell is unlikely to be tradable for anything of value and Jacobs is looking like he’s worthy of a potential contract extension.

Denver twice converted on fourth down to keep the drive alive, then went for the hat trick on fourth-and-2 at the Kansas City 8.

news.yahoo.comOut of Miller's shadow, Barrett aims to follow his footsteps
“He was determined to get it by any means, wouldn’t let failure be an option,” Barrett recounted. Barrett will have a starting — and maybe starring — role in Super Bowl 55 when the Buccaneers (14-5) face Mahomes and the reigning champion Kansas City Chiefs (16-2) Sunday at Raymond James Stadium. Barrett had a monster debut in Tampa, collecting an NFL-best 19½ sacks, forcing six fumbles and earning his first Pro Bowl nod in 2019. Mahomes remembers Barrett in Denver as a player who never let quarterbacks exhale whenever Miller or Chubb tapped out for a breather. He’s got great speed, he’s got great power, he’s got a ton of moves,” Remmers said.
Bills beat Broncos 48-19 for first AFC East crown since 1995
DENVER – Donning gray caps that declared them AFC East champions for the first time since 1995, the Buffalo Bills acted like this was old hat. “To be the team and to be the quarterback on the team that does it, obviously feels really good. “But there’s still a lot on the table.”Buffalo coach Sean McDermott said he received a congratulatory email from Marv Levy, the last Bills coach to win the AFC East. He also missed the 51-yard field goal attempt way to the right on Denver’s opening drive. 'My Cause My Cleats' campaign has taken a foothold in NFL
(AP Photo/Elaine Thompson)DENVER – The “ My Cause My Cleats ” initiative has really established a foothold in the NFL. Five years ago, about 500 players participated in the inaugural campaign, marking the first time players could wear custom cleats during games without facing fines. Some players whose teams were on the road last week can wear their cleats at home this weekend. “You can just go out there and wear custom cleats on the field and really show off what you’ve been working so hard for in the offseason,” Chubb said. “Season after season I am inspired by the growing number of NFL players that participate in ‘My Cause My Cleats’ and the causes they represent,” Commissioner Roger Goodell said.

The Patriots will try to avoid losing five straight games for the first time since 1995.

Broncos coach: virus outbreak shows who the ‘whiners are’
“Yeah, we compete like hell on Sundays to beat each other, but ultimately we’re all in this thing together,” Fangio said. The Broncos (1-3) were supposed to host the Chargers that week, and that game was moved up to Nov. 1, which was originally Denver’s bye. So, the Broncos will have had a 17-day break between games and won't get another break all season. The Patriots wouldn't be nearly as inconvenienced, simply having to flip-flop their bye week with their game against Denver. “What makes it harder for us compared to baseball is we can’t go and play doubleheaders and we can’t make a nine-inning game and seven-inning game,” Fangio said.
Broncos top winless Jets 37-28 for first victory of season
On third-and-6 and the Jets leading by one, Quinnen Williams sacked Brett Rypien — but grabbed the quarterback’s helmet and prolonged the drive. Brian Poole then intercepted Rypien, making his first NFL start, on the Broncos’ next possession, giving the Jets the ball at Denver’s 44. Darnold gave the Jets their first lead of the season with a dazzling run that would make running back teammates Frank Gore and Le'Veon Bell proud. Darnold was able to come back early in the second quarter on the Jets' next series — and was promptly sacked again. The Jets took advantage — eventually.
Brady, Barrett lead Buccaneers past Broncos 28-10
DENVER – Before kickoff, Tom Brady sauntered over to Peyton Manning, who owns four fewer Super Bowl rings but has something Brady desperately craves: a championship with a second team. “It was good to see him,” Brady said after leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers past Manning’s former team 28-10 in Denver on Sunday. “There’s still a lot to learn, a lot to grow, a lot of room for improvement. Before Sunday, the Broncos were the only team in the NFL with a winning record against the six-time Super Bowl champion. “It just felt good to be out there making a couple of plays, get involved in the passing game,” Gronkowski said.
NFL players both eager & anxious to return during pandemic
By and large, however, those same players say they trust the protocols the NFL will have in place by the time practices resume and games return. Safeguards are expected to include daily temperature checks and frequent virus tests, with sick players quarantined for two weeks. We dont know how interesting. The pandemic hit home for a lot of players in April when Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller announced he had contracted COVID-19. And so, boy, I dont know. I dont know.
