MEXICO CITY — (AP) — Jimmy Garoppolo threw four touchdown passes, including two each to Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle, and the San Francisco 49ers won their third straight game by blowing past the Arizona Cardinals 38-10 on Monday night in Mexico City. It was the fifth regular-season NFL game played in Mexico City and first since 2019. San Francisco (6-4) has won five of its last seven and is tied with the Seahawks at the top of the NFC West. It capped a powerful eight-play San Francisco drive that included seven run plays. Aiyuk's second touchdown catch of the night — this one from 14 yards out — put the 49ers up 31-10 later in the third.

Week 3: I'm counting Brandon Aiyuk here because he saw more of Surtain and Deebo Samuel was playing some running back. He caught three balls on eight targets for 39 yards and a score but was 0-for-5 in Surtain's coverage. Week 4: Davante Adams had a big game with nine catches on 13 targets for 101 yards. Week 6: Mike Williams caught two passes on six targets for 17 yards and was 0-for-4 when Surtain was covering him.

AP source: NFL probe 49ers for possible COVID violations
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The NFL and the union are investigating the San Francisco 49ers and receiver Kendrick Bourne for possible violations of the league’s coronavirus protocols. A person familiar with the investigation says the probe is looking into whether Bourne was wearing a face covering as required by the COVID-19 rules. Bourne was placed on the COVID-19 list on Wednesday after testing positive for the coronavirus. The Packers also have their own coronavirus issues after running back AJ Dillon tested positive and was placed on the COVID-19 list Monday. Running back Jamaal Williams and linebacker Kamal Martin were also placed on the list because of high-risk close contacts.

Camp injuries, virus protocols had some NFL teams scrambling

Certainly not during training camp when players are going hard to make the roster as the start of the regular season rolls closer. It's the soft tissue injuries and those things that you are trying to prevent with the ramp-up period," Bitonio said. That will certainly be something to monitor as the regular season begins and teams deal with injuries and potential replacements.
