Florida law school creates Ben Crump social justice center

Lawson said the center will focus on training students to be leaders in social justice lawyering. On Thursday, the law school also will launch a $35 million fundraising campaign to expand its ongoing training of lawyers who fight for social justice. Second arrest made in 2020 beating death of 7-year-old girl in DeLand
VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A second arrest has been made in connection with the 2018 death of a 7-year-old girl, authorities saidBrandon Williams, 31, was arrested Wednesday on an aggravated manslaughter charge for the death of Kamia Jean-Baptiste. In February 2020, Janee Dickson of North Carolina was charged in the beating death of Jean-Baptiste in the DeLand area. Mother charged in DeLand beating death of 7-year-old
Janee Dickson, 26, was charged with aggravated manslaughter in the beating death of 7-year-old Kamia Jean-Baptiste in March of 2018. A DeLand mother was charged Friday with aggravated manslaughter in the beating death of her 7-year-old daughter two years ago. Upon further investigation, Dicksons boyfriend Brandon Williams reported that Dickson struck Kamia on multiple occasions to an extent that exceeded parental discipline, officials said. "Janees story changed many times and evolved to blaming her boyfriend, Brandon Williams, for beating Kamia," Sheriff Mike Chitwood said in a Facebook post. "The truth is there are only two living people who know exactly what happened that evening, and who did what, to Kamia," Chitwood said.news-journalonline.com
