Fantasy Football Week 9: Defense rankings
The New York Jets — and fantasy football managers, for that matter — were devastated to learn they lost one of their best weapons on offense: Do-it-all rookie running back, Breece Hall. Before Hall's departure in Week 7 the Jets offense rode a three-game streak where they scored over 20 points (including a 40-burger against the division-rival Dolphins). The Bills D/ST now ranks as the third highest-scoring fantasy defense through eight weeks with 75 points, behind only the New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys, respectively. That's all music to fantasy managers' ears and, considering Wilson already has five interceptions in just five games, well, you can see why the Bills are our analysts' top-ranked D/ST for Week 9. Here's the defense position — check out the Bills and how the rest of the D/STs landed in our analysts' rankings for Week 9:powered by FantasyProsECR ™ -

wftv.comJets continue surge with convincing 27-10 win at Green Bay
GREEN BAY, Wis. — (AP) — Breece Hall ran for 116 yards, including a 34-yard touchdown, the surprising Jets sacked Aaron Rodgers four times and New York won its third straight with a 27-10 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Green Bay (3-3) has lost consecutive regular-season games within the same season for the first time since coach Matt LaFleur's arrival in 2019. The Jets, whose offensive coordinator is LaFleur's younger brother Mike, outrushed Green Bay 179-60 in a game during which Zach Wilson was just 10 of 18 for 110 yards. The Packers capitalized on an unnecessary roughness penalty on Jordan Whitehead that nullified a third-and-2 incompletion and gave Green Bay a first down. Quinnen Williams sacked Rodgers on Green Bay’s next series to force a fumble that running back Aaron Jones recovered at the Packers 8.
wftv.comFantasy Football Week 5 Wrap: Gabe Davis finally gives us what we've been waiting for
Davis' target rate remains way down, but his return to health is huge news for managers who were patient. That said, Rachaad White absolutely should be rostered in all fantasy formats; he remains available in 65% of Yahoo leagues. Mostert also saw more targets, nearly scored a second touchdown and was terrific (6.3 YPC). Smith has been a top-10 fantasy QB this season and is a borderline top-five option this week at home against the pass-funnel Cardinals defense. Jeff Wilson Jr. and Tevin Coleman were both top-12 fantasy backs this week, and Coleman needs to be added in fantasy leagues (0% rostered in Yahoo).
wftv.comJets run past Dolphins 40-17, snap 12-game skid vs. AFC East
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — (AP) — New York got a safety on Miami's first offensive play, Michael Carter scored on a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs and the Jets ran past the Dolphins 40-17 on Sunday to snap a 12-game skid against AFC East opponents. That came four days after Tagovailoa took a hit against Buffalo that caused him to slam to the ground. And the Jets took advantage with a sudden scoring surge. Jets rookie DE Jermaine Johnson was carted to the locker room in the third quarter with an ankle injury. Jets: Travel to Green Bay next Sunday, when New York coach Robert Saleh will take on close friend/Packers coach Matt LaFleur — brother of Jets offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur.
wftv.comWeek 5 Fantasy Football Stats Notebook: Can Geno Smith keep elevating Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf?
By almost any efficiency metrics, Geno Smith has been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and in fantasy. His air yards per target figure of 5.04 would blow away the highest career average for a player since 2015 — David Johnson at 3.38. Let's get a few guys out of the way: Chris Olave and Mark Andrews are among the league leaders in total air yards. These unrealized air yards are part of the reason why. In comparison to these two, Curtis Samuel's 4.1 air yards per target seems ridiculous.
wftv.comWilson rallies Jets past Pickett, Steelers 24-20
PITTSBURGH — (AP) — Breece Hall ran for a 2-yard touchdown with 16 seconds remaining and Zach Wilson and the New York Jets spoiled Kenny Pickett's debut in Pittsburgh by rallying for a 24-20 victory over the Steelers on Sunday. Wilson took the Jets 65 yards in 10 plays, the final two coming as Hall churned his way across the goal line. The Jets were up 10-6 at the half and the Steelers made a move that was inevitable at some point, inserting Pickett in place of the struggling Mitch Trubisky. Wilson responded with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Corey Davis that drew the Jets within 20-17 with 7:35 to go. Pickett drove the Steelers into New York territory, but his sideline throw to tight end Pat Freiermuth was high and late.
