AP source: Jets acquire edge rusher Shaq Lawson from Texans

Edge rusher Shaq Lawson was acquired by the Jets from the Houston Texans on Sunday for a sixth-round pick in next year's NFL draft, according to a person with direct knowledge of the deal. NFL Network first reported the Jets' trade for Shaq Lawson, who is not related to Carl Lawson. Shaq Lawson has two years and $9.8 million left on his contract, which was restructured by Houston in March. Shaq Lawson will now help fill that void as a young but experienced edge rusher.

Griffin and the Jacksonville Jaguars agreed Tuesday on a three-year contract worth up to $44.5 million that includes $29 million guaranteed, according to a person familiar with negotiations. The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because neither side can make free agent agreements official until the new league year begins Wednesday. The Seahawks aren’t expected to place a restricted free agent tender on the one-handed linebacker. If they don’t, he would become a free agent Wednesday and able to sign anywhere.
