Cowboys acquire WR Cooks from Texans for 2 late-round picks
FRISCO, Texas — (AP) — The Dallas Cowboys acquired receiver Brandin Cooks in a trade with the Houston Texans on Sunday, adding a speedy veteran to play alongside CeeDee Lamb. The difference in the trades is the Texans will pay $6 million of Cooks' $18 million salary. Cooks later went to New England, the Los Angeles Rams and the Texans in trades. The Cowboys waited until late in the 2022 season to put a speedy veteran alongside Lamb when they signed free agent T.Y. Besides Lamb and Cooks, the Cowboys are hoping for a bounce-back season from Michael Gallup now that he's more than a year removed from an ACL injury.
wftv.comDak Prescott scoffs at suggestion Cowboys' Mike McCarthy is coaching for his job in the playoffs: 'It's comical'
Mike McCarthy, coaching for his job in Monday night’s wild-card game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? To further underscore how far removed the Cowboys are from the futility they’re being asked to answer for, McCarthy surveyed his team this week. It’s about what’s in front of us.”Several Cowboys players acknowledged this week: Playoff runs like this one will define their legacies. Cowboys team owner and general manager Jerry Jones insists McCarthy has more than just playoff success on which to judge his third-year head coach. But Cowboys players will not be tuning in.
wftv.comLamb sets table on Thanksgiving as Cowboys beat Giants 28-20
Lamb put the Cowboys in position for one of Dak Prescott's two scoring passes to Dalton Schultz and Ezekiel Elliott's TD run in a 28-20 victory over the New York Giants on Thanksgiving Day. “I definitely thought the CeeDee catch was a touchdown,” Prescott said after his 10th consecutive victory over the Giants (7-4). The first one-handed grab by Lamb was a 15-yarder before Schultz’s second TD. A 23-yarder put Dallas at the 2, and Lamb thought he made another one-handed catch in the back of the end zone. Elliott had a season-high 92 yards rushing, and the Cowboys overcame two interceptions from Prescott, who threw for 261 yards.
wftv.comPrescott, TEs help Cowboys to Thanksgiving win over Giants
ARLINGTON, Texas — (AP) — Dak Prescott threw two touchdown passes to tight end Dalton Schultz, Ezekiel Elliott ran for a score and the Dallas Cowboys beat the New York Giants 28-20 on Thanksgiving Day. Prescott's TD tosses to Schultz came about five minutes apart in the third quarter, turning a 13-7 deficit into a 21-13 lead. The Dallas quarterback has 10 consecutive victories over the Giants since losing to them twice when the Cowboys went 13-3 his rookie year in 2016. Lamb's one-handed grab for 15 yards came before Schultz's second TD. Elliott had a season-high 92 yards rushing, and the Cowboys overcame two interceptions from Prescott, who threw for 261 yards.
wftv.comCeeDee Lamb's disappointment turns to joy, whack-a-mole celebration for Cowboys tight ends
Disappointment for CeeDee Lamb turned to joy for Cowboys tight ends during Thursday's Thanksgiving win against the New York Giants. Peyton Hendershot made up for it on the next play while adding a new twist to a Cowboys Thanksgiving tradition. On second-and-goal at the 2-yard line, Dallas sent out four tight ends for the goal-line play. He was joined by fellow Cowboys tight ends Dalton Schultz, Sean McKeon and Jake Ferguson, who all hopped in the kettle. Here's guessing he's got his tight ends covered in case the NFL frowns on Thursday's celebration.

wftv.comFantasy Football Week 11: Wide Receiver rankings
Jerry Jones says Sunday's game was the best he's seen CeeDee Lamb play as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. His statement certainly translates in fantasy football terms since Lamb's 11 receptions for 150 yards and two touchdowns against the Packers generated 32.5 half-PPR points — the biggest fantasy performance of his young career, and one that made him one of our top performers of Week 10. The 11 catches and 150 yards also don't just mark season highs — they are career-best totals for Lamb, who recorded his first game with double-digit receptions. Week 11, at least on paper, seems to offer a great opportunity for Lamb to build on his career game. Here's the wide receiver position — check out where Lamb and the rest of the WRs landed in our analysts' rankings for Week 11:powered by FantasyProsECR ™ -
wftv.comPackers spoil Mike McCarthy's Green Bay homecoming with overtime rally past Cowboys
GREEN BAY, Wis. — Before kickoff, Mike McCarthy celebrated his return to Lambeau Field with hugs, laughter and back-claps. But at night’s end, Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers had the last laugh. Instead, Prescott missed Lamb in the middle of the end zone and Packers safety Rudy Ford intercepted the pass and returned it 34 yards. The Cowboys failed to score in the fourth quarter or overtime as the Packers ripped off 17 unanswered points. Dallas went for it on fourth-and-3 from the Green Bay 35 but the Packers' pass rush forced an incompletion.
wftv.comBack to Dak? Cowboys QB future clarifies after loss to Eagles
PHILADELPHIA — Initially CeeDee Lamb said he was "not telling nobody nothing," but in a quieter moment of the Dallas Cowboys' postgame locker room, the receiver's phrasing was telling. Prescott began clutching a football during rehabilitation work at Cowboys practice, his grip strength returning from its post-fracture absence. Last week, Prescott worked into some individual throws at practice. At halftime, Rush's 1 passer rating looked like a typographical error beside Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts' 102.8 performance. On his 122nd pass attempt this season, Cowboys QB Cooper Rush throws an interception.
wftv.comMike McCarthy makes a mistake, fails to challenge a bad spot by officials on key play
At least it looked that way to everyone but the officials and, apparently, Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy. The Cowboys rushed to the line to go for it on fourth down. Instead of taking the time to decide on a challenge or choosing the right play, Dallas rushed a snap and passed instead of sneaking it ahead for the first down. Lamb clearly had the first down before he landed. The officials screwed up to begin with, and then McCarthy added a couple of mistakes of his own.
wftv.comFantasy Football Week 4 Care/Don't Care: Patrick Mahomes proves yet again he's from another planet
This version of the Chiefs offense might not be the clean-cut fantasy football unit some want. After a nightmare Week 1 for everyone in Dallas, he’s totaled 259 yards on 21 catches with two scores. Jefferson ran into a tough cover corner in Darius Slay and didn't play his best game in Week 2. Romeo Doubs’ big dropThere were so many positives out of Romeo Doubs' Week 4 outing that we should choose to look past the one big negative. The deep catch would have won the Packers the game and put a massive exclamation point on Doubs’ fantasy day.
wftv.comBackup QB Rush wins again as Cowboys beat Commanders 25-10
ARLINGTON, Texas — (AP) — Cooper Rush won again filling in for Dak Prescott, throwing a touchdown pass to Michael Gallup in the receiver's 2022 debut as the Dallas Cowboys beat the Washington Commanders 25-10 on Sunday. The Commanders (1-3) lost a third consecutive game in Carson Wentz's reunion with an old division rival from his days as the No. Washington had several promising drives stalled by penalties, and flags also wiped out interceptions by Benjamin St.-Juste and Kamren Curl. The Commanders finished with 11 penalties for 136 yards after totaling 128 penalty yards the first three weeks. The 9-yard catch from a scrambling Rush for a 12-7 second-quarter lead came in the same end zone as the injury.
wftv.comLamb's 1-handed TD catch gives Dallas 23-16 win over Giants
Saquon Barkley scored on a weaving 36-yard touchdown run that gave the Giants a brief 13-6 lead. Graham Gano added three field goal, including a 51-yarder with 3:37 to play to make it a one-score game. If there was a big play in the game, it came from McCarthy. Faced with a fourth-and-4 at the Giants 41 with the score tied at 13 and 10:27 to play, the Dallas coach went for the first down. Maher sandwiched field goals of 26 and 28 yards around a 42-yarder by Gano to give Dallas a 6-3 halftime lead.

wftv.comKey 2022 fantasy football pass-catcher projections: How high is too high to draft CeeDee Lamb?
CeeDee Lamb can lead the NFL in targetsYou'll hear some folks assert that CeeDee Lamb is "being drafted at his ceiling." I have him at a 26% target share, which gets him to 170 targets … good for the second-highest in my 2022 projections. It's still tough to get Brown comfortably inside the top-12 receivers with that type of target share despite being an efficiency maven. Even at an aggressive 20% target share, it's difficult to see him pushing north of 120 looks. These two guys have dominated almost half of the target share themselves in each of the last two seasons.
wftv.comWith Dak down, Cooper Rush passes Cowboys past Vikings 20-16
Cooper Rush subbed for the injured Dak Prescott and passed for 325 yards and two second-half touchdowns, the last a 5-yarder to Amari Cooper with 51 seconds left in the Dallas Cowboys’ 20-16 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night.

No preseason, no problem: NFL rookies shine in strange year
Young and Jefferson made the Pro Bowl, and surely more rookies would have joined them as alternates at the league’s now-canceled all-star game. “It’s crazy unusual for a rookie, I think, to have the type of leadership that Chase has, genuine leadership,” Washington quarterback Alex Smith said. “I think a lot of young guys, especially high picks, I think you feel pressure to do it some way or somehow. “Talk about a rookie coming in, starting every game and just being focused,” Browns Pro Bowl guard Joel Bitonio said of Wills. “We’re growing and we’re starting to get a hang of the game,” said Dolphins right tackle Robert Hunt, a second-round pick and one of six Miami rookies starting on offense.

Cowboys beat Eagles 37-17, stay alive with Washington loss
(AP Photo/Michael Ainsworth)ARLINGTON, Texas – Andy Dalton threw for 377 yards and three touchdowns, two to Michael Gallup, and the Dallas Cowboys stayed alive in the playoff race with a 37-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Dallas can overtake Washington (6-9) with a win at the New York Giants and a Washington loss to the Eagles on the final weekend of the regular season. The Giants (5-10) can get in by beating the Cowboys if Washington loses. Instead, Philadelphia and Jalen Hurts couldn't keep the offense rolling while giving up points on five consecutive Dallas possessions. Plenty of reasons for scoring's record-setting pace in NFL
The top mark in NFL history through nine weeks was 24 ppg in 2018. That has eliminated the need for silent counts for road teams, making life much easier for offenses. Road teams are 67-65-1 this season, marking the first time since 1983 (68-57-1) that they had a winning record through nine weeks. From 2010-19, home teams outscored road teams by 2.0 points per game. FLAG FOOTBALL: From the crackdown on hits against defenseless receivers to the protections in place for quarterbacks, NFL rules always seem to tilt toward the offense.
Column: Another grim chapter for Atlanta's sports history
Dallas Cowboys cornerback C.J. (AP Photo/Ron Jenkins)ATLANTA – As the ball spun slowly along the turf at Jerry’s World, the black-clad players backing away like it was a live grenade, Atlanta’s grim sports history flooded the consciousness. There was never any doubt a Dallas player would fall on the onside kick before the Falcons did. There was never any doubt the game-winning kick would almost perfectly split the uprights, handing a team from Atlanta an almost unfathomable defeat. The Falcons led 20-0 in the first quarter after Dallas fumbled the ball away three times.

Rams open SoFi Stadium in style with 20-17 win over Cowboys
Dak Prescott passed for 266 yards and a touchdown, but Dallas managed three points on its six drives in the second half. The opening of Rams owner Stan Kroenke's $5 billion stadium project was a historic night for the Los Angeles area, albeit one that should have been much more festive. Elliott tied it early in the second quarter with a 19-yard TD catch during which he ran through most of the Los Angeles defense. Van Jefferson's first career reception was a beautiful 31-yard grab in the second quarter, but it was the promising Rams rookie's only reception. Right tackle Cam Erving and tight end Blake Jarwin both didn't return from knee injuries in the second quarter.

Cowboys' Prescott has eye on present without long-term deal
Dak Prescott stuck with his virtual hiatus trying to get a long-term contract that never came during the offseason. Im not a guy that looks at my future to be honest, Prescott said Wednesday, two days before the first practice of training camp for the Cowboys. He was an almost instant star with the Cowboys, winning 2016 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year as a fourth-round pick who replaced injured 10-year starter Tony Romo during his first preseason. The Cowboys made the hotel available to their players, and Prescott estimated 90% of them had essentially agreed to create their own bubble. The Cowboys cleared their COVID-19 reserve list early this week by activating WR Jon'Vea Johnson and CB Saivion Smith.

Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer (12) passes during the first half of an NCAA college football game against Oklahoma in Waco, Texas, Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019. When it was all over, Hurts and coach Lincoln Riley were sharing a joyous embrace and the No. 12 Baylor on Saturday night that ended the Bears’ bid for an undefeated season. Oklahoma erased a three-touchdown halftime deficit and tied the game at 31-all on Hurts’ 2-yard TD pass to Willis. That was after the Sooners had opened the second half with Stogner’s second TD catch, a 3-yarder that made it 31-17.
