The decisive Game 5 of the AL Division Series between the Cleveland Guardians and New York Yankees has been postponed by rain after a 2 1/2-hour delay and rescheduled for Tuesday at 4:07 p.m. Both teams took batting practice ahead of the scheduled 7:07 p.m. start.
Cole, Yankees save season, beat Guards to force ALDS Game 5
Cole was pulled after 110 pitches and Yankees manager Aaron Boone brought in closer Clay Holmes for the eighth. Holmes struck out Amed Rosario and All-Star José Ramírez in the eighth before Wandy Peralta finished for the save. The Guardians closed within 3-2 in the fourth on Naylor's second career postseason homer — and third homer in 17 at-bats — off Cole. He also homered in Game 1, when Cole and the Yankees beat Quantrill. With runners at first and second, Ramírez dropped a bloop into left field that scored rookie Steven Kwan.

NEW YORK — (AP) — Yankees reliever Aroldis Chapman has been ruled out for the American League Division Series after he skipped a mandatory workout, leading to a fine and likely ending the All-Star's seven-year tenure with New York. After speaking with Chapman, manager Aaron Boone told general manager Brian Cashman he instructed the pitcher to stay away from the club. While the Yankees did not rule out Chapman for later rounds, they left the impression his return is unlikely. Chapman has 315 saves in 13 major league seasons with Cincinnati, the Chicago Cubs and Yankees, and he earned his seventh All-Star selection last year. Boone and Cashman wouldn't say whether Chapman had a chance to make the ALDS roster before the incident.
