Sun rout Sky 104-80, force Game 5 in semifinals series
UNCASVILLE, Conn — (AP) — DeWanna Bonner and Courtney Williams each scored 19 points to help the Connecticut Sun rout the Chicago Sky 104-80 on Tuesday night and force a decisive Game 5 in their WNBA semifinal series. Alyssa Thomas added 17 points for Connecticut, which will travel to the second-seeded Sky for the winner-take-all game on Thursday night. Connecticut coach Curt Miller has been saying for the entire series that his team would have to make the game “messy” to beat the Sky. The All-Star forward had six points total in Game 3 and seven in Game 2 — both Connecticut losses. The UConn women's basketball team was in attendance, sitting a few row up from the Chicago Sky bench.

She is the only player to lead two franchises (Minnesota and Chicago) in career rebounding and she is the only WNBA player to reach 6,000 career rebounds (6,006 total). Fowles checked out of the game for the last time to a long standing ovation, and hugged her coaches and teammates. The Sun led 78-62 with 7:08 remaining before Minnesota went on a 14-2 run during which Fowles and Aerial Powers scored five points each.

The fifth pick in the 2011 draft is one of five WNBA players who are joining the newly formed Athletes Unlimited basketball league that's starting this winter. Lavender said she was reached out to by Natasha Cloud, who is on the Athletes Unlimited players' executive committee to join the league. “We talked about how WNBA players don’t always want to go overseas since we miss everything with our families,” Lavender said. Athletes Unlimited started in 2020 and has softball, volleyball and lacrosse leagues in which there are no team owners and players share directly in league profits. Choosing Las Vegas as the city was a no-brainer to Athletes Unlimited Co-Founder/CEO Jon Patricof.

The league, the players' union and the New York Liberty released statements offering support to Clarendon. Clarendon wrote in The Players' Tribune five years ago they identify as “black, gay, female, non-cisgender and Christian," and expanded on their identity in an Instagram post in December. “Existing outside of the binary for me is freedom,” Clarendon wrote. I know that my gender will keep evolving because we change and grow and shape shift and expand.
