The band will feature Blackstone as the show’s music director; singer and percussionist Sheila E., Barker who is a drummer from Blink-182; and Glasper as the pianist. DJ D-Nice will perform during the awards show and at the Governors Ball – an event many Academy Awards attendees go to after the Oscars ceremony. He’ll also host the Oscar Club Quarantine pre-party with special guests through his and the academy’s social media channels on Friday.

The performing rights organization ASCAP announced Tuesday that Timbaland, Swizz Beatz and D-Nice will receive the ASCAP Voice of the Culture Award — a thank you for creating the uber-popular virtual events "Verzuz" and "Club Quarantine," which became cultural and groundbreaking affairs celebrating music and community during the pandemic. Despite bleak 2020, celebrities make effort to brighten year

He reassigned his 10 seamstresses in New York to produce thousands daily for health care workers on the frontlines. The singer and husband Emilio Estefan's restaurant Estefan Kitchen served up homemade meals for health care workers in Miami. The challenge coordinated offers by celebrities and athletes to raise funds to feed those in need during the pandemic.

Socially distant concerts signal a reopening for live music

As states start to let businesses reopen under limitations, music industry organizers are testing out new models of smaller, socially distant concerts. Its about creating an experience for live music again, said Couri. It would give people hope that this can be repeated again and again in many different places.But the path ahead for live concerts hasnt been easy. Drive-in concerts arent new, but in the wake of the pandemic, the idea hit in Europe and now the United States. We're ahead of the curve on it and nobody wants to see live music go away, said Carbone.

"I was literally just playing music from my laptop, and the next day, I hooked up the turntables. DJ D-Nice, who attracts tens of thousands to his Instagram dance parties under the title "Home School at Club Quarantine." "Music has always been a great escape," D-Nice said.
