As AI data centers expand across Central Florida and across the country, residents living near one planned facility just outside Eatonville say they want more transparency before it opens.

Eatonville leaders will consider a “call to action” aimed at increasing transparency and community input as a data center project draws questions from residents.

The Florida House on Wednesday approved the bill (SB 484) that aims to put restrictions on the growth of massive data centers that power the rapidly developing AI technology, and their effects on regional electric and water resources.

With artificial intelligence and other technology driving massive increases in demand for electricity, Duke Energy Florida on Friday filed a proposal aimed at preparing for the possibility of data centers being built in the state.
