American novelist Barbara Kingsolver has won the prestigious Women’s Prize for Fiction for a second time with “Demon Copperhead.”.

The Pulitzer Prize for fiction was awarded Monday to two class-conscious novels: “Demon Copperhead,” Barbara Kingsolver’s modern recasting of the Dickens classic “David Copperfield,” and Hernan Diaz’s “Trust,” an innovative narrative of wealth and deceit set in 1920s New York.

An Appalachian update on Charles Dickens and a tale told by a dolphin are among six finalists for the prestigious Women’s Prize for Fiction.

LAS VEGAS – Illusionist David Copperfield is suspending his Las Vegas stage show after a crew member tested positive for COVID-19. The Las Vegas Review Journal reported Monday that the legendary magician has “no idea yet” when his production at MGM Grand will resume. According to the newspaper, an internal email from MGM Resorts International officials on Friday said one of Copperfield's illusion techs had been exposed to the virus. In a statement, Copperfield said his entire crew would be tested again. His stage show was one of several residency productions across MGM Resorts that reopened Nov. 6.

NEW YORK AMC Theatres, the nation's largest movie theater chain, will reopen in the U.S. on Aug. 20 with retro ticket prices of 15 cents per movie. AMC theaters have reopened in numerous international countries but have remained shuttered in the U.S. since March. During its opening-day promotion, AMC will show catalog films, including Ghostbusters, Black Panther," Back to the Future and Grease." AMC confirmed that Disney's much-delayed New Mutants will debut in theaters Aug. 28, with Christopher Nolan's Tenet to follow Sept. 3. AMC said Thursday is expects about two thirds of its theaters will be open in time for Tenet. Several states, including California and New York, are yet to allow movie theaters to reopen.
