Patrick Mahomes continues to grow his business ventures off the field. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback became one of the only active NFL players to have an ownership stake in an NWSL team after the Kansas City Current announced Mahomes joined the club's ownership group on Tuesday. As for Mahomes, this is the fourth team he's bought equity in since 2022 and the third one based in Kansas City. "We are so thrilled to make this a family affair and have Patrick join as an owner," Brittany Mahomes said in a statement. Current and former NFL players with ownership stake in NWSLMahomes isn't the only NFL player to invest in the NWSL team.

Williams scored the go-ahead goal on a header off a cross from Samantha Mewis. The Courage are the NWSL's two-time defending champions and considered the favorites at the Challenge Cup. In the previous meeting between the two teams last season, the Courage routed the Thorns 6-0, led by Williams with three goals.
