The Bruins are coming off a nine-win season and a Sun Bowl game appearance, and now head coach Chip Kelly is tied to the football program through 2027.

The early signing period does not begin until Wednesday, but Chip Kelly and UCLA have already made a major splash. Dante Moore, a five-star quarterback recruit from Detroit, announced Monday that he has flipped his commitment from Oregon to UCLA. Moore committed to Oregon back in July, but switched over to UCLA after visiting campus last week. Moore’s commitment to Oregon changed when Kenny Dillingham left the Ducks to become the head coach at Arizona State. Moore, once he officially signs later this week, will become the second recent quarterback addition for UCLA.

Caleb Williams and the USC offense just could not be stopped. Williams turned in an epic performance on Saturday night, outdueling Dorian Thompson-Robinson in a high-flying 48-45 victory over UCLA at the Rose Bowl. USC had a 48-38 lead with 9:10 to go, but that lead quickly shrunk to 48-45 with 6:38 remaining. From there, it looked like the USC offense would be able to add to the lead yet again while eating up much of the remaining clock. It was the third interception of the game and the fourth turnover overall for Thompson-Robinson, who also lost a fumble.

UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson said that the Bruins "hate those guys across town" ahead of their matchup with USC on Saturday.

Asked what his final matchup with USC means to him, Thompson-Robinson bluntly explained to reporters, “Obviously we hate those guys across town. The fifth-year senior added that he hopes to surpass his exploits from the USC game a year ago when he accounted for six touchdowns in a 62-33 UCLA romp. “We want to break 60 and all that stuff.”Thompson-Robinson’s candor supplies fresh intrigue to what was already the highest-stakes USC-UCLA football game in 17 years. UCLA announced on Tuesday that the USC game is a sellout and that it is expecting a student turnout of 16,700, which would be the biggest in school history. He should be a focal point of the Bruins’ game plan again this year against a suspect USC defensive front.

Jayden de Laura accounted for three touchdowns and had his fifth 300-yard passing game of the season as Arizona upset ninth-ranked UCLA 34-28 Saturday night, snapping an eight-game road losing streak against ranked teams.

Bo Nix threw for five touchdowns for No. 10 Oregon in their 45-30 win over No. 9 UCLA on Saturday, snapping a nine-game winning streak for the Bruins.

He completed 18 of his 23 throws for 299 yards and four touchdowns while Charbonnet gashed the Utes for 198 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. UCLA also stopped the Utes twice on fourth down in the fourth quarter. UCLA led nearly the whole game, but the Utes were within one possession until the fourth quarter. And then in the fourth quarter, Thompson-Robinson hit Logan Loya in stride for a 70-yard touchdown to extend the lead back to 10, 35-25. On the ensuing drive, Utah moved toward midfield but faced a fourth-and-1 when Rising plunged ahead but the football was jarred loose.

Kelly won big at Oregon before his foray into the NFL, but UCLA won a combined 10 games in his first three seasons. Georgia Tech, which had lost nine straight to FBS competition, took advantage of multiple Pitt turnovers in the second half. Early in the fourth, another Pitt fumble set Georgia Tech up for a touchdown that extended the lead to 19-7. With less than four minutes to play, Pitt strung a desperate touchdown drive together to cut the Tech lead to 19-14. Slovis, the transfer QB from USC brought in to replace first-round pick Kenny Pickett, continued to struggle while the offensive line and receivers underwhelmed against a lackluster Georgia Tech defense.

The UCLA Bruins beat No. 15 Washington 40-32 Friday night at the Rose Bowl to move to 5-0 on the season, the first time since 2013 that UCLA has started a season 5-0.

UCLA: The Bruins had lost 11 straight games against top- 15 foes, including two to the Huskies, before Friday night's win.

The Hawaii, Military, Fenway and Arizona bowls have already been canceled due to virus outbreaks leaving teams without enough available players. Utah coach Kyle Whittingham has been named The Associated Press Pac-12 Coach of the Year for 2021.

Jake Haener threw for 455 yards, including the go-ahead touchdown pass to Jalen Cropper with 14 seconds remaining, and Fresno State upset No. 13 UCLA 40-37 at the Rose Bowl.

If there is an early game that can measure the progress UCLA has made under Chip Kelly, it is likely to be Saturday night when the 13th-ranked Bruins host Fresno State. The last time the two teams met at the Rose Bowl was 2018, when Kelly was in his first season. The Bruins got within 16-14 early in the second half before the Bulldogs scored the last 22 points to win going away.
