The Mariners won for the 10th time in 11 games beating the Oakland Athletics 4-2 on Wednesday night, keeping the pressure on their fellow competitors for the two wild-card spots in the AL. Seattle's bullpen was again solid, with the exception of Diego Castillo (5-5) allowing a solo homer to Seth Brown in the seventh inning. The seven-run deficit is the most the Mariners have overcome this season, and the largest cushion the AL West-leading Astros have lost. While he wasn’t overpowering, Plesac managed to induce weak contact for most of the first seven innings. Seager brothers go deep, Dodgers rally past Mariners 11-9
It was the 10th time in major league history that opposing brothers both went deep in a game. The teams combined for seven long balls, marking the second straight game there have been seven or more at Chavez Ravine. He had a three-run drive to right field during the second inning that gave Los Angeles a short-lived 6-2 advantage. Los Angeles' Ross Stripling struggled for the second straight outing, allowing three homers and seven runs (six earned) in three innings. Los Angeles RHP Tony Gonsolin (0-0) has not allowed a run over 8 2/3 innings in two previous starts this season.
