A police official says man who escaped from a Mississippi jail and is a suspect in a Monday night killing is believed to have died after barricading himself in a home and setting it on fire during an armed standoff with deputies.

Authorities say an Alabama inmate had a “special relationship” with the jail official authorities believe assisted his escape.

Authorities are searching for an “extremely dangerous” murder suspect who escaped from an Alabama jail and the official they now believe may have helped him to escape.
