Orange County Convention Center is among venues leaning into virtual, hybrid events due to pandemic social distancing

In-person events will return once it's safe, but this year has shown the benefits of digital offerings. The space was designed specifically for hybrid events and can be used in collaboration with other OCCC venues, including the Linda W. Chapin Theatre and the Destination Lounge. The San Diego Convention Center has a section of its website dedicated to hybrid events where it promotes its numerous on-site options for hybrid and virtual events.Even smaller venues are adding new technology to allow for hybrid events. The shift to fully virtual events has had dramatic impacts on industries reliant on in-person events. When the events industry came to a standstill earlier this year, de Freitas quickly shifted to virtual and hybrid events.

Port Orange postpones Fourth of July event due to coronavirus pandemic

PORT ORANGE, Fla. Port Orange is the latest Central Florida city to call off its annual Fourth of July event in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The decision was made to postpone the event based on the reopening guidelines released by state and federal authorities, which wont allow for mass gatherings in the near future, a news release from city officials said. Florida is currently in full phase one of its three-phased plan to reopen the states economy. Details about when the event will take place were not immediately available but officials said they expect to hold it later this year. This was a tough decision to suspend our July 4th fireworks event at City Center," Mayor Don Burnette said.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. A large event that was set to take place at the Orange County Convention Center next month has been postponed amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. [PREVIOUS: Orange County Convention Center could host big event as early as next month]Since 1888, the AAU has prided itself on providing quality event participation opportunities to millions of athletes in a safe environment, said AAU President & CEO Dr. Roger J. Goudy. Therefore, out of an abundance of caution, the decision was made to move the AAU Volleyball event to start July 14. Prior to Fridays announcement, convention center officials were moving forward with a plan to safely put on the large event. The rescheduled AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships event will begin July 14, according to the news release.
