Lebanon’s renowned Baalbek festival is back and is being held in front of a live audience for the first time since 2019.

Muslims are observing the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Fitr, typically marked with communal prayers, celebratory gatherings around festive meals and new clothes.

Lebanon is being shaken by a severe economic and financial crisis, made worse in recent months by the coronavirus and lockdown restrictions.
